In recent years, The Göteborg Ballet has had an increasingly contemporary repertoire, focusing on, reflecting and developing the art of dance. The future projects will show even a stronger cutting edge profile. It is time that our name also makes that evident. From now on we will be called GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.
The name has been changed to meet the reality of us being a contemporary dance company. Although the training of most of our dancers is of classical format as well as contemporary, the way we work is beyond ballet. We will create performing arts of our epoch for people of today, says Adolphe Binder, Artistic Director.

GöteborgsOperans Danskompani is a contemporary and international dance company – one of the foremost in Europe and the largest in the Nordic region. It has a firm foundation in the here-and-now and equals a unique high quality and international programming. It comprises dancers from 16 countries and in recent years, it has been experiencing increasing demand abroad. GöteborgsOperans Danskompani attracts legends as well as some of the most interesting young choreographers, inspiring them towards new expressions and art forms. Our audience is local, national and international, united by an eagerness to discover and experience.
